Frequently Asked Questions

The following are some of the questions most frequently asked:

General:

Q: When will the seminar start?
A: The first participants begin their journey on March 8, 2019, but you can begin when you're ready. We stop adding new content on May 1, 2019, but the discussion board will stay up until June 30, 2019.

Q: How much content is there?
A: There are two kinds of content: The videos that are presented throughout the seminar and the work done by people like you.
Four to six videos are released every week. Some of these are short, running just four minutes long. Others run over 10 minutes. Every week there is a Q&A video, in which Soon Lim answers questions from the discussion forums. Sprinkled throughout the Seminar are lesson videos, in which Soon Lim explain the core concepts of finance and accounting and how they are applied to actual scenario in the investment marketplace.
Beyond that is the content created by students in the Seminar. Every lesson comes with a set of questions that challenge you to explore how the lesson can be applied, and a call-to-action: to share your answers and insights on the discussion board. By sharing your own thoughts and giving others feedback on their work, you'll learn far more than you would by merely watching.

Q: What is the video content like?
A: There are three types of video lessons:

Lessons: Each video covers a specific topic and ends with an assignment.
Q&A: Soon Lim answers questions that students have posted in the discussion boards. These videos are meant to address universally relevant questions, and the questions will be selected for this.
Webinar Coaching Tutorial: Soon Lim examines a real-world example, assign homework and discuss it with students in a live webinar every two weeks. There will be a total of five coaching tutorials.

Q: Will I receive a certificate of completion?
A: Every attendee receives a certificate as a PDF, suitable for printing and framing. And if you send us a A4 size self-addressed stamped envelope, we'll send you a physical certificate, signed and with a shiny seal.

Q: How does the discussion board work?
A: Go to the Community tab in your library. The Seminar administrators will set up categories, which will be labeled according to the lesson topic to be discussed. In each category, everyone will be able to create more specific topics of discussion and to respond to the posts of others. These boards are open 24/7, providing a secure place to have conversations with Seminar participants from all over the world, from different industries and with different backgrounds.

The Seminar has a dedicated coordinator who helps to focus discussions and to address concerns (or inappropriate behavior). But there is no moderator or grading rubric—you'll be in charge of when and how generously you interact with others.

Registration and Refund Policy:

Q: Is there a money-back guarantee?
A: There is a 14 days no-questions-asked money-back guarantee. Just write to us within the period and we will proceed to issue a full refund.

However, once the seminar has commenced more than 14 days from the start date, no refunds are possible, but we understand that life sometimes gets in the way of well-laid plans. If you find yourself unable to continue, contact us and we can discuss a deferment to a future session.

Our terms of service are simple: We ask that all of our participants be kind, be respectful and be positive. Don’t share the work of others outside discussion boards without asking first. And when in doubt, assume goodwill. If you have a problem, raise a flag and we’ll work to address it. If, after personally working with you to address your respect for our terms of service, we have the right to unenroll you from the course.

Q: How can I contact you if I have further questions?
A: Reach us at [email protected]

Q: Can I post confidential materials on the discussion board?
A: The rules of our discussion board are:

  • Contribute more than you ask for.
  • Be kind.
  • What is said here, stays here.

With that said, please use your best judgment. If it's not something you can happily post online, best to disguise the details before you post it here.

Q: Will Soon Lim answer all of my questions?
A: Definitely not. And the good news is that you don't need him to. The Seminar is designed to give you a compass and a template, not a map. The map, the details of your particular situation… that's all up to you. We hope the Seminar will help empower your decisions along the way.

Q: What are the modes of payment?

Credit card - Credit Card Payment Mode is most preferred. You will be guided through the registration process online.

Mobile Payment Mode - For Singapore resident, you can also make your payment via PayLah, PayNow or PayAnywhere. You will be led to a landing page where it will instruct you how your payment should be done.

Acknowledgement of fees received when pay by Credit Card, will be sent as soon as the payment is cleared. However, it will take up to 3 working days to acknowledge payment if you choose to pay by Mobile Payment Mode.

Thus, Credit Card Payment Mode is highly preferred.

Q: Is there any discount for the courses/seminars?
A: If the course is entitled to any available discount, it would be reflected under the course fees’ description. A Discount Code will be given and used during the online checking out process.
